Rain Chances Increasing Late Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- A deep upper-level trough currently over the western U.S. will move eastward over the next several days, increasing our chances for rain.

Today will be partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the middle to upper 40s. Temperatures will remain mild overnight in the upper 30s to lower 40s.

Rain will be possible on Thursday, but only scattered coverage is expected. The better chance of rain will be on New Years Day as a cold front settles south of the area, and energy draws moisture northward from the Gulf of Mexico.

We’ll get a lull in the action on Saturday, with variably cloudy skies and highs in the upper 60s. Another round of rain will be possible on Sunday, followed by a push of seasonally cool air.
