RICHMOND, Va. -- Heat will be the big story today, as it will likely be the hottest day we've experienced so far this season. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s, with heat index values close to 100.

Saturday will be hot and more humid with highs in the lower 90s and heat index values again near 100. A few scattered storms are possible in the afternoon and evening.

A cold front will drop temps a little for Sunday, but highs will still be near 90 in the metro. It will be cooler near the coast and in northern VA. A few isolated storms are possible, with the best chance well southwest of Richmond.

Next week will be hot and humid with highs in the low to mid 90s. Isolated pop-up storms will be possible just about each afternoon. Stay with CBS 6, The Weather Authority.
