RICHMOND, Va. -- A powerful storm system will move eastward today, allowing a warm front to move northward through the Mid-Atlantic. Much warmer weather is expected ahead of this storm system, with southerly winds of 10 to 20 mph today, pushing temperatures into the low 80s. Most of today will be dry, with only a slim chance for a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon and early evening. Heavy rain and a few storms will be likely on Thursday, especially in the morning. A Flood Watch will be in effect for the event, as a few inches of rain will be possible. A few lingering showers will be possible on Friday, but additional heavy rain is not expected. Drier and warmer weather is expected to return this weekend, with mid 70s Saturday, and low 80s Sunday. A few storms will again be possible Sunday evening along a cold front, with breezy and milder weather on Monday.
