HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Surveillance video shows a Henrico mail carrier being shot at and hit by paintballs while making his rounds in Highalnd Springs.

The video shows more than half a dozen shots of paintballs rattled off in broad daylight on south elm street on Friday, June 19.

Two of the paintballs hit the mail carrier in his arm.

Now, the U.S Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

"18USC111, is the assault statute against officers and employees of the federal government. So that does carry protection to our postal carriers in commission of their duties," said US Postal investigator Michael Romano.

The suspects are at least one man who was driving a greenish grey Chevrolet Malibu.

"We don't want to dismay this thing as well it is just a paintball gun. It did cause some minor injuries in this situation. So we are asking anyone with information to contact the US Postal Inspection Service," said Romano.

The mail carrier was back on the job the next day.

People living in the community feel like he was the target and they don't understand why.

"He's such a nice man too. He picks up the newspaper for me," said one neighbor. "My mother is disabled and he brings the mail to the back door. He really does anything you'd expect a nice person to do."

" I don't see why anyone would target the mailman... I mean he brings bills but he also delivers stimulus checks you know," added another neighbor.

Agent Romano says if convicted, the suspects will face 1-8 years in prison.

Anyone with information is urged to call 877-876-2455.
