RICHMOND, Va. -- Real Life Ministries Church and local non-profit Missions from the Heart teamed up Saturday afternoon to deliver fresh fruits and vegetables to people who may not normally have access to it.

Dozens of boxesfilled with produce were loaded into cars and truck beds and then dropped off at the homes of seniors and neighbors in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pastor Dr. Stephen Towns said events like this one are all about serving those in their own communities.

“It’s very rewarding to be able to give back and be of assistance in the community,” Towns said. “A lot of churches are back physically in their buildings now, but people still have needs and so it's our goal to help meet the needs of the community.”

Some members of the WTVR CBS 6 family volunteered at the event as Mission from the Heart was founded by Problem Solver Shelby Brown.

The group delivered more than two dozen boxes to residents in Richmond's Hillside Court.
