RICHMOND, Va. -- Friends and family gathered Sunday afternoon in Church Hill to remember a mother of six who was killed in the neighborhood.

Police said Rosalind P. Gibson was found shot to death in the 1100 block of North 25th Street, near Venable Street, at about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday after neighbors reported hearing gunshots.

Gibson’s children gathered with other family members and friends to honor her life.

They remembered her as a supportive person who got along with everyone.

“She loved her kids, and she loved her family, and she loved everybody that loved her,” her daughter told the crowd. “And I just want my Mama to know that I love her. Especially because before she died she told me she loved me. And she was there for me… I love you, Mom.”

Gibson's children said she was known for always smiling and dancing with those she loved.

Anyone with information that could help police is urged to call Major Crimes Detective M. Gouldman at 804-646-3915 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000. The P3 Tips Crime Stoppers app for smartphones also may be used. All Crime Stoppers reporting methods are anonymous.
