2 injured in shooting at busy Henrico intersection

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Two people have been taken to the hospital after a double shooting near a busy intersection in Henrico on Thursday evening.

Around 7:45 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Mechanicsville Turnpike and Laburnum Avenue for a shooting.

"Police arrived on the scene and determined the crime scene to span two local businesses' parking lots," officials said.

When on scene police found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital.

Police said one man is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.

18-year-old Rashawn Singleton was arrested in connection to the shooting. Police said he is facing multiple charges including malicious wounding.

“Detectives are working to piece together what transpired here this evening and want to hear from witnesses or those involved,” says Lieutenant Matthew Pecka.
