PETERSBURG, Va. – The driver of a Dollar General tractor-trailer is facing a hit and run charge after a crash in Old Towne Petersburg Tuesday.
Police say the driver clipped a concrete power pole when he turned right from Bank Street onto North Market Street. The driver kept going, according to police.
Dominion Energy says the crash broke a concrete power pole, which caused a power outage in the city's downtown area.
The crash caused a closure of Bank Street and part of North Market Street. City officials are advising residents to avoid the area.
Crews remain on scene working on the situation, but there is no timetable for power to be restored.
