SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. -- A Spotsylvania youth official has been charged with child sex crimes and possession of child pornography.

An investigation into Benjamin James Nagle began after an anonymous tip was called into the Spotsylvania Department of Social Services alleging an inappropriate relationship with a minor known to him.

Nagle is the Executive Director of Office on Youth serving the greater Fredericksburg area. The 40-year-old serves as chief administrative officer for the Office on Youth, a non-profit, youth services agency, commissioned by the City of Fredericksburg and the Counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford, according to his Linkedin account.

"The complaint was immediately given to the Sheriff’s Office Child Victim Unit to investigate," said a Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

Detectives interviewed the victim and found evidence linking Nagle to the alleged crimes, including several images of suspected child pornography and providing narcotics to the minor victim.

Investigators say some of the images located by computer forensic detectives has been identified as the minor victim. The alleged crimes reportedly occurred at Nagle's Spotsylvania County home.

Nagle was arrested by Spotsylvania Detectives on December 22. He has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to violate the drug control act, one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor, and one count of possession of child pornography.

He is being held under no bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
