CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- One man was killed early Sunday morning in a crash on Meadowdale Boulevard in Chesterfield, according to police. Both speed and alcohol played a role in the crash, the initial police report indicated.

Officers were called to the 4200 block of Meadowdale Boulevard, near Hopkins Road, at about 2 a.m. Sunday, August 16.

"The driver of a 2008 Honda sedan was traveling south on Hopkins Road when it struck a 2012 Toyota that was turning onto Hopkins Road from Meadowdale Boulevard," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson wrote in an email. "The adult male driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash; the driver of the Honda was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

Police have not yet released the names of the people involved in the crash.

The investigation is on-going. Anyone with information was asked to call Chesterfield Police at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
