Police identify man killed after his wheelchair was hit by car on Chesterfield road

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police have identified a Richmond man killed after being struck by a car along a busy Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield early Sunday morning.

Riley O. James Sr., 62, was in a wheelchair in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling east on Midlothian Turnpike near Karl Linn Drive around 1:25 a.m.

James was transported to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Officers said the driver remained at the scene.

Police continue their investigation into this crash. They have not said if charges will be filed in the crash.
