RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Police arrested a man accused of breaking into a Westover Hill home. But what made the arrest so unusual, was how officers found the suspect.
"Officers were called to the 5200 block of Caledonia Road [earlier this week] for a burglary. Officers arrived and started speaking to the victims and searching the property. The sergeant noticed a pair of sneakers hanging off the top of the fence," a Richmond Police spokesperson posted on the department's Facebook page. "He went to check it out and was quite surprised by what he found. It was the suspect hanging upside down – stuck in the fencing!"
Officers arrested Melvin Knightner after they unhooked him from the fence.

"Officers determined Knightner got spooked while he was inside the house, tried to make a dash over the fence but got stuck," the post continued. "We also received a call from the victim who thanked the officers for their quick response."
Knightner is charged with burglary.
