Police: $5,000 worth of jewelry stolen in Richmond home break-in

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are asking for the public's help to identify a man accused of breaking into a Richmond home and stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.

Security video shows the suspect walk up to a residence in the 800 block of North 24th Street at approximately 7:15 p.m. on September 16.

"Detectives have determined he then kicked in the back door and stole a box and pouch, which contained jewelry valued at approximately $5,000," said a Richmond Police spokesperson.

The family says some of the stolen items are considered heirlooms, according to police.
