PETERSBURG, Va. – Petersburg City Public Schools is apologizing to parents and families due to bus route issues that have been caused by a “severe” bus driver shortage.

In a message to families, school officials acknowledged that some buses have been late, and some bus routes have been changed.

“We apologize for any inconvenience that you or your child(ren) may have faced due to issues with the buses,” school officials wrote in a Facebook post.

School officials say a “severe shortage of bus drivers” has been the cause for most of the bus issues.

“If you or someone you know would like to gain employment as a bus driver, we have immediate openings,” the post continued.

Officials ask parents and families to contact their student’s school directly with any questions.
