Man killed trying to run across Jefferson Davis Highway

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Authorities are investigating after a man was fatally hit by a car while trying to cross Jefferson Davis Highway in Chesterfield County Sunday night.

Lt. R. M. Granderson with Chesterfield Police said officers were called to the southbound lanes near the 6300 Block of Jefferson Davis Highway around 8:30 p.m.

That is where police said man trying to run across the highway was struck by a sedan.

"The victim was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries," Granderson said.

The driver remained at the scene, according to officers.

"Police continue their investigation into this crash," Granderson said.
