Man charged with attempted murder in District 5 shooting

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Police are crediting the public for tips that led to the arrest of a man wanted in connection to a shooting at District 5 restaurant and bar in The Fan early Saturday morning.

The shooting occurred in the 1900 block of West Main Street on Saturday, July 18 at 12:39 a.m.

Police say the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say tips from the public allowed officers to quickly apprehend the shooting suspect.

"Officers dispatched to the call quickly tracked down the suspect's vehicle and arrested Devon D. Saunders," said a Richmond Police spokesperson.

Saunders has been charged with use of firearm in commission of a felony and attempted murder.
