Man arrested in Richmond triple shooting that killed Ashland woman

RICHMOND, Va. -- Authorities have made an arrest in a deadly triple shooting in an East End neighborhood Saturday night.

Officers were called to the 2000 block of Sussex Street in Whitcomb Court for reports of random gunfire and a person shot just after 10:30 p.m.

"Once on scene, police found a vehicle parked on the side of the road with damage from gunfire," Richmond Police officials said.

Officers found 20-year-old Makayla A. Gregory, of the 200 block of Henry Clay Road in Ashland, along with anther woman wounded near the car.

Both were transported to an area hospital, where police said Gregory died of her injuries.

The other victim has a life-threatening injury and was in critical condition at last check Sunday, according to police.

Officers later arrested 24-year-old Justin J. Diggs, of Woodside Street in Richmond, in connection with the homicide.

Diggs was charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Attempted Robbery and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

The suspect was shot in the chest during the incident, according to police. His injuries were not life-threatening, officials said.
