HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Henrico County shared photos of the demolition inside the old Macy’s South store at Regency Square in western Henrico.
"Crews have ripped down the escalators and are now working on taking out the ceiling and flooring," the county posted on social media. "There are few reminders inside that this was once a department store."
Crews are transforming the old department store into NOVA Aquatics Center.
"When it’s completed in 2021, the aquatics center will feature a 50-meter pool and two 25-yard warm-up pools," the county advised. "Not only will it serve as a hub for Nova of Virginia Aquatics, but it will also provide swim lessons and swim team pool time for Henrico County Public Schools' students."
