RICHMOND, Va. — A Richmond judge indefinitely extended an injunction that prevents the removal of Robert E. Lee statue from Monument Avenue in Richmond. The circuit court judge gave the plaintiff 21 days to refile its lawsuit against the state.
The new court hearing was set for July 23.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam previously announced the Lee statue would be removed following protests over the death of George Floyd.
A lawsuit seeking to stop such a move was filed by a descendant of donors involved in transferring the statue to the state over a century ago.
This is a developing story.
