CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A 39-year-old man accused of holding up a Chesterfield convenience store early Thursday morning was apprehended by police later that same day.
Officers were called to the Sheetz at 20 S. Providence Road at about 5:13 a.m. on Thursday for an armed robbery.
Investigators said the suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.
"The suspect then went behind the counter and took cash. Two customers attempted to stop the suspect, but the suspect fled on foot toward a nearby Super 8 Motel," said a police spokesperson.

Detectives later obtained warrants for Jimine G. Carter, of the 8200 block of Midlothian Turnpike, on robbery, abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, wearing a mask in public and two counts of assault and battery.
Carter was taken into custody about 16 hours after the crime. He is being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail.
Officers said their investigation into the crime is ongoing.
