Video shows suspect in Henrico man's murder moments before car crashes into building

RICHMOND, Va. -- Authorities have released surveillance video that shows the man wanted in a Henrico man's murder early Wednesday morning in Richmond.

"The suspect walked up to the vehicle and fired shots, striking [the victim]," police said. "[The] vehicle then collided with the structure."

Officers were called to the 1900 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike for a report of a shooting just after 1:10 a.m.

Richmond Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the adult male in the photo and video (video released separately) who is the suspect in the homicide that occurred on Mechanicsville Turnpike on Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to the 1900 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike for a report of a shooting just after 1:10 a.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Javon A. Tuck, of the 4600 block of Eastover Avenue in Henrico, in the driver’s seat of his car suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officials said Tuck was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the suspect, who was wearing a white t-shirt and light-colored trousers, was seen fleeing the area on foot in the direction of Whitcomb Court.

“Detectives are making progress in this case and believe someone knows who shot Tuck and why,” Major Crimes Captain James Laino said. “We released this video to prompt those individuals to come forward and provide information to detectives.”
