HOPEWELL, Va. β€” A man is in custody after a woman was found dead in a Hopewell home on Wednesday, police said in an update shared just after noon on Thursday.

Officers were called to the 300 block of South Mesa Drive at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday for a domestic disturbance.

When they arrived, they found a woman, identified as Medea Masterson, 46, dead at the scene. Police said she had "sustained severe injuries."

Police said Larry Masterson, 42, was taken into custody and charged with second degree murder.

He was taken to Riverside Regional Jail and is being held without bond.
