Henrico shooting victim drives to Richmond, approaches ambulance for help

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A Henrico shooting victim attempted to drive himself to VCU Medical Center before approaching a Richmond ambulance for help Friday morning.

Henrico Police responded to a call for shots fired in the 300 block of Cedar Fork Road shortly after 10:00 a.m.

While officers were on the scene investigating, they were informed that the shooting victim was traveling to VCU Medical Center in the City of Richmond.

When the man neared the hospital and saw an ambulance, he stopped the vehicle near City Hall, at the corner of East Marshall and North 10th Streets, and approached the ambulance for help, according to Richmond Police.

Police say the victim confirmed the shooting occurred in Henrico.

A Richmond ambulance transported the victim the remainder of the way to VCU Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say the incident is under investigation.
