RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond teacher was surprised by an unexpected knock on her door Friday.
Rahmah Johnson was greeted by Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney, Richmond Public Schools Superintendent Jason Kamras and other school leaders.
"What are you guys doing here," Johnson asked.
Johnson was stunned to learn she was named Richmond Teacher of the Year.
"I love Richmond City Public Schools and I love my students," Johnson said. " Oh my gosh."
Johnson, a teacher and guidance counselor at Thomas Jefferson High School, said her job fills her with joy.
She has been teaching in Richmond since 2007.
