RICHMOND, Va. – GRTC officials said they will again operate a daytime-only service Tuesday after three nights of protesting in riots in the City of Richmond over the weekend.

GRTC suspended bus routes on Saturday night through the weekend after rioters set a Pluse bus on fire early Saturday morning in downtown Richmond.

The service resumed Monday morning at 8 a.m. GRTC will again only operate during the daytime on Tuesday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

GRTC officials say CARE trips scheduled before 8 a.m. will still operate if conditions are safe for operations in the early morning. CARE customers are encouraged to contact Customer Service (from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at 804-782-2273 for scheduling assistance.

All other routes will operate between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday.

“All vehicles are instructed to return to the Garage as close to 6PM as possible,” officials wrote.

GRTC says their plan is to resume normal service on Wednesday, but there “may be service delays or changes as conditions warrant the rest of the week.
