RICHMOND, Va. -- There have been 58 people murdered in Richmond so far in 2020.

Statistics show that figure is up seven people from last year at this point.

But Melissa Agurs wants you to know her baby brother Edward, who was found dead on Nelson Street in Fulton on Tuesday, is not a statistic.

"Stop focusing on the white man with the uniform, where everyone is standing there with cameras, taking pictures of the policeman or white man,” Augurs said. “Why was nobody taking pictures when my brother was gunned down at 3:30 in the afternoon?"

Edward was shot and killed about one block from where her older brother David was killed five years ago.

"It meant more than the drugs or the money or whatever girl y'all arguing about,” she said. “Which is why is y'all out here killing each other for something that really don't mean nothing."

Edward Agurs got into an argument with another man Tuesday at Fulton convenience store, according to Crime Insider sources.

An hour or so later he received a phone call to come to Nelson Street. His sister called it was a setup.

"Nobody wants to say nothing because ‘you're my homeboy’ or ‘you're my home girl,’” Augurs said. “That's got to stop if you want to make Black lives matter. If you want Black lives to matter, it doesn't matter what color you are, if you wrong somebody, make it right by saying, ‘hey, this is the person.'"

Agurs was a father of three children under the age of 12 His sister made a plea to her brother's killer.

"Turn yourself in. Staying accountable for what you've done. If you were man enough to stand there and pull the trigger, be man enough to take your punishment."
