Teacher accused of assaulting student at Virginia high school

NORFOLK, Va. -- A Norfolk teacher accused of assaulting a student was arrested Wednesday at Granby High School.

Detectives were called to Granby High around 3 p.m. on Feb. 19 in response to a report of a 17-year-old being assaulted by a teacher, according to Norfolk Police.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested 29-year-old Keith Buxton for misdemeanor assault.

Buxton was later released on a criminal summons.

Authorities said the student was not injured.

Norfolk Public Schools placed Buxton, who has worked for the school district since Aug. 2019, on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
