‘Godmother of soul’ Patti LaBelle coming to Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. – Known as the ‘Godmother of soul,’ GRAMMY award-winning singer Patti LaBelle is coming to Richmond this fall to headline a concert at the Altria Theater.

LaBelle, with special guest The Whispers, will take the stage at Altria Theater on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

With the concert, LaBelle returns to Richmond for the first time since September 2011.

With a musical career of 60 years, LaBelle is a singer and songwriter known for hits like "Lady Marmalade,” "If Only You Knew," and "New Attitude."

The 75-year-old has sold more than 50 million records worldwide and has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Joining LaBelle will be The Whispers, an American music group from Los Angeles with a legacy of R&B hits since the late 1960s. The group has been inducted in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Official R&B Music Hall of Fame.
