RICHMOND, Va. -- Hundreds of Richmond-area Elephant Insurance workers will not be back in their West End office until the end of July 2021 -- at the earliest.

"The most important thing we can do as an employer is to keep our employees safe,” Elephant Insurance CEO Alberto Schiavon said. “With the uncertainly of the pandemic into the first half of the year, we wanted to plan ahead to provide clarity and consistency for all our employees, especially working parents."

Elephant Insurance employs 630 people.

Most of those employees have been working from home since March.

The car insurance company arrived in Henrico in 2009.
