HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- The Henrico man who died in a fiery crash on Interstate 64 in Short Pump Wednesday morning stabbed his wife multiple times, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.
Police said 53-year-old Christopher Mburu of Henrico County drove his car off Interstate 64 west into the woods near the exit ramp to Interstate 295 south.
"The driver was transported to an area hospital where they succumbed to their injuries," a Henrico Police spokesperson said.
The crash was reported as Henrico Police responded to the man’s home near Parham and Three Chopt roads.
A 911 call made from the home alerted police to a domestic dispute, according to Crime Insider sources.
Police found a woman with multiple stab wounds when they arrived to the house.
The woman was taken to the hospital where she was last listed in stable condition, Crime Insider sources told Burkett.
Those sources said the stabbing occurred after the woman threatened to file for divorce following a previous assault.
The crash closed the exit from I-64 west to I-295 south for hours Wednesday morning. It has since reopened.
This is a developing story.
