HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A death investigation is underway after a child died after having a medical emergency at Hadad's Lake in Henrico Sunday afternoon.
Police, fire and EMS crews responded to the 900 block of Osborne Turnpike for a medical emergency at approximately 3:53 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, officers delivered emergency aid to a child.
Fire and EMS crews also delivered emergency care upon arriving on scene.
The child was transported to the hospital, where they died from their injuries Monday, August 3. The name is being withheld because the victim is a child.
Additional details surrounding the incident have not been released at this time.
Police say detectives are in the preliminary stages of a death investigation.
