CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police arrested a husband for murdering his wife inside their Chesterfield County home.

Mirian A. Diaz, 48, was stabbed to death inside a home in the 1800 block of Stone River Road, according to police.

"As a result of the police investigation into this incident, the victim's husband, Leonidas Diaz, age 50, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder earlier this morning," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said.

Diaz appeared in court Thursday morning wearing a red jumpsuit and clear slippers.

He required an interpreter for the proceedings.

When the judge read the charge to him and mentioned that he is accused of killing his wife, his head dropped down into his hands and he was rubbing his head slightly sniffling and crying.

When the judge asked Diaz if he had any questions, he first asked if he could see his kids, to which the answer was no. He then asked the judge for his forgiveness.

Diaz was given a court appointed attorney and denied bond. His next appearance is scheduled for April 2.

Anyone with information was asked to call Chesterfield Police at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
