Chesterfield driver killed on I-95

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A Chesterfield man was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 just south of Willis Road, in Virginia.

Joseph Wayne Ashworth, 74, died at the scene of the Thursday afternoon crash , according to Virginia State Police.

"The preliminary investigation reveals that a Ford F 150, driven by Ashworth, was traveling southbound I-95 in the center lane when he veered right striking a Chevrolet pickup truck in the left lane," a Virginia State Police spokesperson said. "Ashworth then veered back to the right crossing all three lanes of travel when he was struck by a Freightliner tractor trailer hauling a farm tractor in the right lane."

The other drivers involved in the crash were not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
