CARROLL COUNTY, Va. -- Authorities said a missing 75-year-old woman from Carroll County who prompted a Senior Alert has been found safe.

Officials with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office posted just before 8 a.m. Saturday that Carol Chandler Deaton had been located and was safe.

"Thanks for all the assistance," deputies said.

Deaton was last seen Friday at 1:30 p.m. at her home on Chances Creek Road in Fancy Gap.

Officials said Deaton, who deputies said might have headed to Atlanta, suffers from a cognitive impairment and her disappearance poses a credible threat to her health and safety, according to state police.
