FARMVILLE, Va. -- A Virginia man is $1 million richer because he got a little thirsty.

Brian Butler stopped at a Farmville Sheetz for gas, went inside to get a drink and that is when he noticed New Year's Millionaire Raffle tickets on sale, according to officials with The Virginia Lottery.

“I just saw it pop up on the vending machine, so I bought one,” he later told Lottery officials.

That ticket that Butler said he bought one on a whim turned out to be a $1 million winning ticket.

Butler called the win "overwhelming.”

Three other top prize-winning tickets were bought in Fredericksburg, Virginia Beach and Woodbridge.

Additionally, six tickets, which were purchased in Danville, Gloucester, North Chesterfield, Poquoson, Smithfield and Virginia Beach, scored a $100,000 prize.

The Farmville Sheetz also received a $10,000 prize for selling the winning ticket.
