Alert issued for missing Virginia child with autism

NELSON COUNTY, Va. -- Virginia State Police issued an endangered child alert early Friday morning for Azalia Berrian.

Azalia is a 14-year-old girl who was last seen Thursday night on Russell Way in Afton, Virginia.

She lives with autism.

“Therefore [she is] considered to be in danger and her disappearance poses a credible threat to her health and safety as determined by the investigating agency,” the Virginia State Police alert read.

She is described as a black female, who stands 5 foot 5 inches, and weighs 178 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair. She might be wearing a black shirt with orange shorts and pink tennis shoes.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Nelson County Sheriff's Office at 434-263-7050.
