Chesterfield Police ID body found in Appomattox River

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – Authorities have released the name of the man whose body was found in the Appomattox River last week.

Chesterfield Police were called around 9:15 p.m. Friday, June 5, to Roslyn Landing Park in Colonial Heights after members of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries found a body in the river.

The body, which was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, was later identified as 52-year-old Aaron P. Hegele of Norfolk, Virginia.

"Police continue their investigation, but at this point foul play is not suspected," a police spokesperson said.
