RICHMOND, Va. -- The Medical Examiner is working to figure out what killed a woman found dead on a Richmond sidewalk on Monday.
Police were called to the 1100 block of Hammond Avenue, between Brook Road and Route 1, just before 7 a.m.
There they found the woman's body.
"Neighbors reported hearing a disturbance last evening," a Richmond Police spokesperson said. "Detectives are asking anyone who may have heard or seen unusual or suspicious activity in the area last night or this morning to contact detectives."
A northbound lane of Brook Road was closed Monday morning as part of the investigation.
