40-plus COVID-19 patients discharged in Virginia; hospitalizations tick down
More than 40 additional COVID-19 patients have been discharged from Virginia hospitals in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA). Read more.
2 new COVID-19 outbreaks reported in Virginia Sunday
Data show 385 (no change from yesterday's report) outbreaks at long-term care facilities with a total of 9,291 66 COVID-19 cases and 1,337 deaths. That is up 25 cases and two additional deaths from the previous day's report. One outbreak was also reported in a congregate setting as well as a single additional outbreak in a healthcare setting.

Global coronavirus cases top 25 million
Global deaths from COVID-19 stand at over 842,000, with the U.S. having the highest number with 182,779, followed by Brazil with 120,262 and Mexico with 63,819. Read more.
6 new COVID-19 outbreaks reported in Virginia Saturday
Data show 385 (+1 from yesterday's report) outbreaks at long-term care facilities with a total of 9,266 COVID-19 cases and 1,335 deaths. That is up 30 cases and -6 deaths from the previous day's report. Three outbreaks were also reported in congregate settings as well as single outbreaks reported in both healthcare and educational settings. Read more.
University of Virginia set to conduct in-person classes

Colleges and universities all over the commonwealth are seeing students with COVID-19, and James Madison University currently has the highest number with 186 students reporting cases since Aug. 17, but Virginia Commonwealth University isn't far behind. Read more.
VCU preps more isolation beds as COVID cases rise
A little more than a week after students returned to VCU's downtown Richmond campus for the fall semester, the university announced plans to open up more isolation beds as active COVID-19 cases rise with 79 active student cases and 12 active employee cases reported as of Thursday morning.
