RICHMOND, Va. -- One batch of thunderstorms will track to the south and east of Richmond over the next few hours. Another cluster of storms will develop mid to late afternoon across central and northern Virginia, and then track southeastward.
Storms today will produce heavy rainfall, and some storms may be severe with damaging winds and hail.
Isolated tornadoes are possible, but damaging winds will be the biggest threat with the storms.
Storms will exit later this evening with just the chance of a shower or storm overnight.
Saturday will be mainly dry and less humid for much of the area with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Scattered storms and more humid air will return for Sunday and Monday with highs in the low to mid 80s. A storm or two will be possible each day next week as it stays muggy with highs in the upper 80s to around 90°.
