Crash creates 9-mile traffic backup on I-95

RICHMOND, Va. — A crash on I-95 north in downtown Richmond backed up traffic for more than nine miles Tuesday morning.

At one point during morning rush hour, the left and center lanes of I-95 north were closed near the exit to I-64 east (mile marker 75.6) due to the crash, according to VDOT.

The center lane reopened just before 9 a.m.

The cause of the cause remains under investigation.

Police have not yet said if anyone was seriously hurt in the accident.
