CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A 15-year-old Matoaca High School student was arrested for sending threatening emails that prompted a police response to the Chesterfield school. The student's name was not released due to his age.
"On Monday, March 7, and Tuesday, March 8, administrators at Matoaca High School received anonymous emails containing threats directed at the school. School Resource Officers, the police department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Virginia State Police, the FBI and school officials worked together to identify the source of the threatening messages," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said. "Through investigation, police determined a 15-year-old male student at Matoaca High School had sent the threatening messages. On Monday, March 21, the suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of threats of death or bodily harm to persons on school property."
The student was booked at the Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home.
