PETERSBURG, Va. -- A business owner is pleading for the public’s help to identify the teens who damaged her SUV in Petersburg.
Kimberly Ann Calos said when she arrived at work Thursday morning she spotted her Ford Expedition sitting on its rims.
When she checked the surveillance video she saw just how quickly the crime unfolded.
"We plainly see three people who walked across the parking lot, tried to open the doors to the vehicle, were unsuccessful doing that and just decided to pass a knife around and stab each of the four tires on the truck," Calos said from inside her Petersburg business.
The video captured Wednesday night shows the three teenagers try to open the driver's door and then driver's side passenger door.
When they don't open, one of the three takes out a knife and pushes it into the rear hatch lock.
When it doesn't do anything, the video shows the teen take the knife and stab the rear driver's side tire.
The suspect then moves off camera and it is believed he stabs the front driver's side tire.
The three teens then move back into the view of the camera and a second teen grabs the knife and goes around to the passenger side before the teens look around before slowly walking away.
"It appears that they were bored as can be, had nothing else to do," Calos said. "They were very lackadaisical about their motions and their actions and then they were done, they kind of high-five each other and very slowly walk off."
Petersburg Police had a school resource officer review the video to see if they could recognize the teens.
Police are also investigating other acts of vandalism in the area.
