2 arrested, gun recovered after shots fired near VCU

RICHMOND, Va. — Two suspects have been arrested and a gun has been recovered after shots were fired near Virginia Commonwealth University early Saturday morning, Richmond police and VCU police said.

Officials said the shooting happened just after 3:45 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Broad Street.

One student tweeted that he spotted the suspects being arrested outside his dorm.

As a result of the incident, police have increased patrols in the area.

The incident remains under investigation.
