RICHMOND, Va. -- One person was killed and four people severely injured after a driver ran a stop sign on Jahnke Road at Newell Road at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

A car believed to be a gold Dodge Intrepid ran the sign near Jahnke Road Baptist Church, according to Major Drew with Richmond Police. As a result a red Toyota Paseo and a burgundy Suzuki wrecked.

The Suzuki XL7 had four occupants. Drew said police are on the lookout for a gold four-door sedan with front-end damage.

One person in the Suzuki was pronounced dead on scene. The other occupants were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The sole occupant of the Paseo was also been transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

There was some damage to the car at the home where the wreck occurred.
