CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- CBS 6 spoke with the cousin of Morgan Rogers Friday evening.
"They were just a fun, loving family," said Michael Jones.
Morgan Rogers and her one-year-old daughter Leah Rogers were found dead inside a Chesterfield County home on Friday.
"We're still stunned and really just in state of disbelief," said Jones.
Police said Stafford Shaw was wanted for their murder and violating a protective order. He was later killed in a four car crash in Mechanicsville that killed two others.
Jones told CBS 6 that Shaw was the father of baby Leah.
"I don't understand how a father harms his daughter, I'm speechless," said Jones. "There’s no way on God's green Earth that I can imagine a father come in and do what this man did."
Jones said Morgan was always there for her family and was a wonderful mother.
"They were thick as thieves, they were inseparable," said Jones
Jones described little Leah as someone who had her whole life ahead of her.
"Always smiling, she got put out of church for being in there laughing and wanting to play," he said.
Jones said Shaw was Morgan's estranged boyfriend. He said while the family is still at a loss for words, they hope this can raise awareness on the issue of domestic violence.
"I don't care how much you love the person, if there's any hint of it -- run for the hills," he said.
