NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC)issued an alert for a missing New Kent County teenager. Mia Colaluca, 17, was last seen May 11, according to the organization. Colaluca’s photo now appears on the NCMEC website and Facebook page.

New Kent Sheriff Detective Farrar Howard said New Kent investigators alerted the NCMEC about Colaluca. Investigators have since determined Colaluca’s disappearance was more akin to a runaway, than a kidnapping or missing child.

Howard said Colaluca is in the middle of a custody battle between family members in New Kent and Louisiana. He said they have reason to believe Colaluca is alive and not in any danger.

Anyone with additional information about Colaluca was asked to call the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office at 804-966-9500.
