HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — The Virginia State Police and Virginia Missing Children Clearinghouse have issued an endangered missing child alert for two-year-old Jameson L. Pollard.

Deputies are trying to find 24-year-old Jason S. Pollard, who was last seen leaving his home along the 13000 block of Walnut Shade Lane in Hanover with his two-year-old son Jameson (Jimmy) L. Pollard Thursday afternoon. Pollard is bi-polar, according to investigators, and may be in a manic state.

“Jason Pollard may be suffering from the symptoms of a mental illness,” Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Major Mike Trice said. “He was last seen leaving his residence on April 30, 2015 at 2:30 pm, in a 2002 white Nissan four door sedan with a Virginia license plate VBU1115.”

Pollard was described as a white male, six feet tall, about 190 pounds with black hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a shirt (unknown description), blue jeans, and black Nike high-top tennis shoes. Pollard has shaved his beard.

Jameson Pollard is described as a white male, 3 feet tall, about 30 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white and green shirt with a monkey image on it, tan pants and Spiderman shoes.

'I don't think he would harm him'

"We have a big family and Jimmy is everybody's world," said Jessica Kreb, Jameson's mother.

Kreb is questioning why the child's father would take off with their son.

"I mean he does everything with Jimmy. He is a good dad, but then he does this. I don't think he would harm him or anything," Kreb's mother  added.

The family called police Thursday afternoon when they said Pollard left their Hanover home in a white Nissan sedan. No one has seen Pollard or his son since.

"Our concern is based on the father's mental history, and based on his actions yesterday, we believe he might be suffering symptoms from that disorder," said Trice.

Trice said Pollard, who suffers from bipolar disorder, has disappeared in the past and then checked himself into a hospital. However, this is the first time he has ever taken his son.

"We don't have any information that would indicate that they left the area, but we also don't have any information that they're still here," Trice added.

The family said that Pollard has been off his medication for several days. And even though relatives said that he does have money to provide for his son, they are still fearful of what could happen.

The family has this message for Pollard:

"Bring Jimmy home, please. We want him to know that we love him. And just bring him home -- I want them safe," Kreb said.

Trice told CBS 6 News that Pollard is not wanted on any charges and that there is no custody battle or domestic dispute involved in this situation.

Deputies did recover a cell phone believed to be Pollard's near the couple's home, but it was destroyed.

Anyone with information about the Pollards are urged to call the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at 804-365-6140 or the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
