RICHMOND, Va. — An investigation is underway after two windows were shot at a landmark state office building in Richmond over the weekend.
Capitol Police said the crime happened at the James Monroe Building at 101 North 14th Street.
“Evidence was recovered from a Department of Accounts office on the second floor, and from a Department of Treasury office on the fourth floor,” Capt. Randall E. Howard with the Division of Capitol Police wrote in a news release. “Both offices are located on the south side of the building, and the window glass in both offices had been penetrated.”
No one was injured and the shooting happened when the building was unoccupied.
Roughly 1,000 state employees work at the 30-story Monroe Building, which is located to the west of I-95. The building is maintained by the Department of General Services.
