GLEN ALLEN, Va. -- Days after the U.S. Coast Guard ended its search for Virginia Tech student Cameron Smook, a memorial scholarship was established for the Deep Run High School graduate. Smook, a senior majoring in mining and minerals engineering in the College of Engineering, was seen on security video falling off a Carnival cruise ship Sunday.

"Our family sincerely appreciates your continued prayers and support at this most difficult time," the Smook family said in a statement released Wednesday. The Smook family  then established the Cameron Smook Memorial Scholarship.
